How The CHEROKEE CID SUPPORTS EVENTS

The Cherokee Street CID  was established in 2017 to advance the health, safety, educational, civic, social and commercial interests of the Cherokee Street community, between Gravois and Indiana Avenues.

We see events as an important driver of foot traffic for our business district and a very important source of community and support events organized by community members and businesses in multiple ways.

Financial SPonsorships

Financially supporting events organized by local businesses and community members that take place within our district boundaries. The Cherokee CID prioritizes sponsorships for events that meet the following criteria:

  • Benefit/involve multiple businesses on the street
  • Benefit/involve multiple types of businesses (retail, food/drink, bars, event spaces, art galleries, etc.)
  • Benefit/involve multiple parts of the street (Cherokee and Jefferson, Cherokee near Love Bank park, Cherokee near Compton, etc.)
  • Benefit diverse communities on the street

TYPES OF EVENTS WE SPONSOR:

  • Streetwide Festivals (Ex. Black Owned Black Friday, Lo-Fi Cherokee)
  • Arts & Culture Events (Ex. Shakespeare Festival performance at Love Bank Park, Free Circus at Cherokee & Iowa, Dia de los Muertos workshops & small business crawl)
  • Community Support Events (giveaways, food distribution, youth camps, etc.)

TYPES OF EVENTS WE CAN'T SPONSOR:

Day to day activities/events of a single Cherokee Street businesses (Grand openings celebrations; weekly concerts at a business; Meet ups or club gatherings; etc.)**

** These are still great events and very valuable for our street! The CID Events Committee simply does not have the resources to support all of these gatherings and has prioritized events that extend beyond a single business or storefront for sponsorships.
